AllTel Switch in Minnesota

I am on AllTel in Minnesota. I can't seem to get a straight answer and I'm not sure I will be able to get one here, but its worth a shot.
Does anybody know when AllTel will be switching over to Verizon?
When I switch to Verizon will I be able to get a new phone? My current contract with AllTel doesn't end until January 2012 (so October with early renewal...).

It depends on where you are at in Minnesota. The area I'm in will NOT be going to Verizon... Alltel will be transitioning to AT&T, and should be finalized in 1st quarter next year.

If your area already has AT&T as well as Verizon, I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried going to Alltel.com and entering in your zip code? That is a good place to start to find out information.

In my area we are gonna be transitioning to Verizon.
My brother have this information that their gonna be replacing the phones for those who's contracts are gonna expire in the mid of next year or so.
You just have to contact them.

I already received a letter that I will be switching to Verizon. The letter states I will find out later and when I try calling AllTel I get the runaround. I was hoping somebody "on the inside" might have more info, but oh well. Guess I will just have to be patient.

The Minnesota markets are set to transfer over in January. Verizon can't take over your Alltel Market until AT&T takes over Verizon's customers in that market. Unlike the VZW customers going to AT&T, you will not be recieving a new phone automaticaly as there will be no network change, but if you are eligible, you will be able to upgrade to a Verizon phone and keep your Alltel plan.
