Default Alltel Laptop Modem Service

I currently have the data card from Alltel and we have switched to Verizon. Since June I have had issues with the service going from DO to 1X to no service at all. I have made several calls to Verizon to no avail...until Monday night. I was told that there is no longer Alltel data service in my area and would need to switch to a Verizon plan. Nice of them to take my Money for this plan for the last 3 months without telling me about this.

Anyone else in the same boat and what have you done to get this resolved?

I am so proud to now be a part of the worlds most reliable network I could scream!!!

Did you ask for a credit for the months when the service was poor or not working? I can't imagine they wouldn't give you some credit especially if you switch to the verizon plan. Be nice but firm when asking.

My PRL is 4XXXX they have pushed a new one through several times and say I have the most updated one.

The only thing they offered me was that they would let me out of my commitment on the modem line if I wanted to cancel - but it is already out of contract so it doesn't matter.

4XXXX doesn't help.. What are the last 2 numbers? 40052 or 53 would be the latest.

Ask if you could get a replacement. It could be a card issue. What about your Blackberry? Do you have 1XEV? If that's so, then you should have EVDO signal on your card. Most likely bad card.

Also - go to Help > About and let me know what your RSSI says.

Well if you've been getting poor service, but are out of contract... There's no reason why you shouldn't have been more proactive, instead of letting it carry on for three months.
If everything is up to date on the card, and if you've been told you service has degraded in your area, then I would probably disconnect and find a carrier with service in your area...
