Default All-rizon customer looking to get into the BB world

I'm an Alltel customer now (4 months out from end of contract, just hit "upgrade available" status). I'm tired of my ppc 6800, and am interested in getting a blackberry instead. With the whole merger thing, could I go to verizon now and use my alltel upgrade? From my limited research it looks like the "best" blackberry available to me as an alltel/verizon customer is the storm, but I'm not a fan of it. Besides that, it's the curve 8330. Is there any chance for any other cdma bb's to come out anytime soon? I'm guessing that Verizon is still banking on the storm. In your honest opinion, would it make sense to get a curve 8330 now or just hold tight and see what happens the rest of the year?

From what I've heard alltel has a better (cheaper) data plan. The 8330 is a solid phone and by getting one now your data contract would be grandfathered...just another thing to consider.

I really like my WE (world edition) but it really doesn't have much memory at all. If you don't care for the Storm (or the Tour), I'd do the Curve at least.

I have nothing on my WE at all, like 5 phone numbers, no extra apps and my memory always sits exactly at like, 12mb (which is the minimum you should have to avoid memory leaks).

Alltel also has the Blackberry Flip phone available now. I don't know anything about it, just happened to see it available on their site.

I too have bn waiting on the merge so I can get my hands on the storm. But after reading a couple of threads. A lot of ppl have switched back from storm to curve. U might ck out those threads get an honest opinion. I am happy with my curve for now.

Ps. There is talk of a new storm comin out soon. And I'm sure a thousand ppl will tell u when new phone hits market. Takes cpl of updates to work bugs out. So I'm not so sure about the tour just yet. Waitin to see.

Alltel's plans are much better than Verizon's. I just switched from Verizon to Alltel to get the better plans and get grandfathered in.

From Alltel I have the smart choice 500 plan for $89.99
it includes unlimited data, unlimited messages, unlimited mobile to mobile (verizon & alltel), unlimited nights & weekends starting at 7pm, unlimited calls to 10 my circle numbers and 500 minutes.

The closest plan i could find from verizon was...
Blackberry nationwide email & messaging plan.
it includes the same unlimited things, except nights start at 9:01pm, only 450 minutes, no my circle and cost $99.99 per month.

For me it's a no brainer to go with the alltel plan. The few numbers that I call that aren't mobile to mobile i put into my circle. I will barely use my 500 minutes, and I know I won't go over, and it's $10 less per month!
