Advantages when switching to VZW from Alltel?

a larger mobile to mobile calling network, supposedly a larger and better network, top notch customer service, and higher rate plans(after you factor in they dont offer 7pm nights and weekend or unlimited text messages with the blackberry plan).
Someone please correct me if im wrong, or missed anything.

I don't know about the top notch customer service although the vzw employees on CB are awesome! Wished they worked in my local store.

Odd...i just subscribed to my smartphone plan with Alltel and was guaranteed that it would continue with the changeover. I have unlimited texting and other features.

I thought that customers migrated into VZN's system, but still using their Alltel plan, got the VZN "IN' network as well?

Anyhow other than cool new phones coming out more often that's about it.

You get less for your money (my wife + my BB plan w/ similar features/etc comes to almost 50/mo more!)

I may be going ATT (since while I don't care for them throughout the US they're good in Phoenix and it's surrounding areas) after my contracts since I can get an almost "the same" setup (minus 5 less "circle" numbers with their fav 5 but i only have 5 people enough that i need a few #'s).

Biggest mistake I made was switching to the vzw network should have just keep my old phone and signed with a totally different carrier instead of doing an eary upgrade and took it one step further and signed the vzw contract. I have had more dropped calls in 3 months then in 3 years with alltel.

Well, maybe one, I was able to keep my Alltel plan but legally I believe they had to let me. Advantage by definition=none

I was to understand that we (Alltel customers), got to keep our "circle of friends".

I "think" Verizon uses a different network system of some sort don't they ??

Yes, alltel customers are able to keep their "my circle" entries along with your current alltel plan. Verizon uses a different billing system but the network technology is the same as alltels which is why there is no need to swap out your current handset for a new compatible one. Good luck with the job search.
