| | Seidio Innocase holster combo for Blackberry 9000
Well, I have just received my Innocase holster combo from Seidio for my Blackberry Bold. I had a holster combo for my 8310 and was pretty pleased with the level of protection that it gave, so of course my goal was to protect my Bold as well. Because of my employment, I needed something that would protect my Bold, but not be gawdy at the same time. I considered the otterbox, but was really put out at the sheer size that it seemed would be added to the phone itself. I finally settled on Siedio based on my past experience with their cases. The first thing I noticed about the case, was that it was the same smooth, rubbery feel finish that the curve holster had. I also noted that the front part of the holster seemed very thin, and almost breakable. This initially concerned me, but once it was on the phone it made sense. The thickness (or lack thereof) helps keep the slim lines of the phone, and honestly, there really isnt another way that I can see you could have designed it.
Placing the case on the phone was another deal all together. For some reason, and I can only assume because of the thickness of the front part of the case, it was terribly difficult to put on. I had to double check the invoice to make sure that I actually ordered the right case. It almost seemed as if the case was too small for the phone. Everytime I got one side clicked in place, the other side would pop loose. This happened over and over. I finally took the whole thing off, and pressed the phone as far as I could into the rear piece of the case, this seemed to do the trick. Once the case was on the phone, it looked very good, and as I mentioned before, allowed the case to keep its slim look. The only problem I see with the case is one that I must say I had with my curve case. There is a gap along the bottom of the phone where the two pieces of the case come together. In the case of my Bold however, this gap is significantly larger. I can actually pull it apart with no effort and see the silver trim of the phone itself. It doesnt seem to hinder the case from staying on, and honestly, if I hadnt had that problem with my curve case, I may not have even cared much. But considering the 50 plus dollars I spent toward the case, this seems like it should have been fixed at some point. My hope at this point is that if the phone should ever fall, the case wont "pop" off. That small portion of the bottom of the case is my only complaint though. Besides the gap, eveything else about the case is top notch, the feel, the overall thickness it adds, and the access to the actual phone itself. There are cutouts for all speaker ports, charging ports, convience buttons, and microphone. I especially like the black color that I bought as it makes it look like the bold with black trim around it.
The actual holster for the case is very nice as well. It's desinged to have the phone face in. It also has the sleeper magnet function which is an added plus. The case is made of a hard plastic, and the inside is covered in a velvet like material to protect the phone. This is the exact same type of holster that came with the curve combo I had purchased, and I was very pleased with that. Once the phone is seated in the holster, the clip holds it very securely. The back of the case has a rotating belt clip that I have never had issues with.
Overall, I'm very pleased and excited to be carrying my Bold in this case/holster combo. It is thick enough to provide the protection I need, but not overly bulky that I feel like I'm using a tank. My wifey has the digital camera, but I'll post pics of the case and holster as soon as I can.

Ok, so I found one more snafu, but I think I've got it fixed. Everyone I spoke to said that I sounded distant on the phone or muffled. I checked the mic hole on the case, and realized that part of the case was covering the mic. It was almost like the mold that was used was off by just a little. I took a pair of wire cutters and trimmed off a very little piece near the mic. That seems to have done the trick. Everyone that I had spoke to said that it sounded fine again. So, just thought I would pass that along as well.

I believe the gap that you are referring to at the bottom of the case is to facilitate easier splitting of the two pieces to remove the case for the odd battery-pull reboot and such...

Thanks for the pics and the great review! Do you find the keys along the outer edge of the device easy to press? Seems like the case sits a good deal higher than the keys and may be hard to get too.
Thanks again!

The right side keys are just a little hard to get to. Nothing to bad (volume, and default camera)or enough to make them unusuable.
As far as price, I think it was just under 60 dollars with shipping. I'm not at my computer, but I'll post up a link when I get back. I had wantedto buy the combo from the crackberry shop, but they idnt have the case/holster combo so I went directly to the site.

Hey Cobra, thanks for the review and pics. I was wondering if you noticed if the top of the spring clip scratches the phone itself or if it just holds onto the rubber part of the skin? I'm asking because someone wrote a review for the holster in the shop that says it scratches the top of the phone, not sure if that's only without the skin/holster combo though. Thanks!

if you get just the holster for the phone without the case, yeah i can see where it would scratch up the phone. but with the case, it only touches the top of the case itself, not the phone. now with that said, i will say that its easier to get a curve with this same combo in and out of the holster for some reason, may just be the size of the phone. i dont just push the phone into the holster with the clip though. i open the clip and then place the phone in the holster. does that make sense? its kinda hard to describe. you can just push the phone into the holster, but i could i'm assuming after time scratch the case up a little bit.
