Default Seidio Extended Battery Review

Ok-

I couldn't take having to charge my berry at least once in the middle of a day of regular use. So, like I have with my curve I broke down and sprang for the extended battery for my bold.

The battery door that comes with it matches the material of the phone very well. It's not the same carbon fiber as the bold's door but it seems like the same material as the rest of the phone case. The fit of the door despite others warnings is very snug. No gaps. No wobbles.

Performance wise, I got two FULL days of heavy use out of it. This was after only ONE charge overnight when it arrived. I then used it all day Friday and all day saturday and when I hung it up for the night at midnight I had over 50% battery left.

Say what you want about the extra size (it clearly adds a small raised area on the back of the phone) this battery cannot be beat. The only drawback which many will cry foul about is that I have yet to see a skin or hard case made for it. The only solution I can think of is some kind of holster. Which I don't use. I'm a pocket user and I had to hang up my otterbox commuter for this battery. But I don't see any way I might go back. The life on this battery is too sweet. I will have to risk going naked...

I know some of you balk at the fact the phone will not be quite as small but if you need more power and don't or can't charge during the day. This is definitely the battery form you.

I have no ties to the company at all. I'm just a heavy BB user and this is the second one in the second phone I've had. They are the best you can get...

I liked mine so much on my Tour, I put it on my new 9650. A perfect fit, back and all. Im pretty careful about leaving apps on that Im not using, i.e. maps, yelp, browser. I really must charge every other day. To me that is an improvement.

Totally agree with OP. I've had mine now for about 8 weeks and love it. I was getting about half a day out of original battery on a heavy use day and could make 2 PM on a normal day before looking for a charge. Now, I use it all I want and never even think about battery level. It comes of the charger about 5 am every day and back on at about 10 PM. Most days it still has at least 45% at the time it goes back to charging.

Oh ya, no door issue for me. Fit is good and I've had no trouble with it.

i have had one for about two months now. the battery life is great and the door fits well and everything. the only complaint that I have is that for some reason, the keyboard feels a bit more cramped with the extended battery door. It seems like the keys are a bit easier to hit with the OEM battery and door. Other than that I am perfectly satisfied. I switch batteries and doors according to situation though. on my days off I use the OEM set b/c im near a charger most of the day anyway

I'm about to mod my otterbox commuter to work with the extended battery and then I will have the ultimate setup =). The only real complaints are the crappy seidio battery door (the latch release doesn't work very well and it's hard to take off) and the added weight, which isn't that big of a deal, but it is noticeable.

The case fits if you just don't use the battery door, but it bulges in the back slightly.

Odds are if you cut out a square in the rubber portion where the battery is, the plastic will fit close to perfect and hold the battery in easily.

Gonna try it once I receive my replacement case.

Seidio has a case specifically for the phone with their extended battery. Look for the Innocase 360 with the extended battery for the Tour. It's a great case, it fits my Bold, and also works with their belt clip/holster. You'll have to modify the cutout for the USB plug, making the USB cutout 2-3 mm wider. It's easily done with a warm hobby blade.

Yeah the problem is I don't like their cases or their CS, whereas I like both on Otterbox. That's why I'd personally rather mod it to make their case work, rather than modding a Seidio case...

The otter defender works perfectly if you leave the battery door off. The back shell holds the batter in place. Have been using it for a while with zero issues

I am starting to think there was something wrong with my oem battery. This battery is supposed to get double the life but I get almost 4 times the life. I'm not afraid to put on google maps or nav or bbscanner and not have a phone in an hour.

I modded my otterbox commuter and now it fits with the 2600mah battery. Best of both worlds, woo.
