the clip holds the phone in very well, have bumped into some desk corners and snagged on seatbelts. The phone stays in place.

Thank you for the wonderful review. I will be purchasing this case this weekend. I have been waiting for one with a removable bottom piece so I can put it in the charging pod without taking the whole thing off.

No thanks I'm a fan of the Otterbox Defender series if you want a good case and holster combination. Wish they came in more colors is my only complaint.

Good write up.

I bought this case yesterday. The bottom piece does come off for use with the charging pod, though you have to tilt it ever so slightly forward to get it to sit in the pod.

With the top piece on and in the pod, the 9700 has to be almost at a 90 deg angle instead of the slightly backward incline it normally enjoys. So be careful it doesn't tip forward and out of the pod.

The case is good looking, and I respectfully disagree with the other poster who intimated it looked cheap. I didn't get that impression, but of course these things are subjective.

I do have one big problem with this case though. The case is super snug. Normally this would be a good thing, but this case pinches my 9700 so tight that I can't use the four major keys above the keypad without the screen doing a ripple effect. When the case is removed, the ripple effect goes away.

It's a real shame, because I really wanted to use this two-piece case, but I can't justify pinching the 9700 to the extent that the screen ripples with normal use. I'm going to take the case with me to work and flex it with my hands for a few days and see if I can loosen this thing up. It really is a nice case and I would like to use it. Maybe it's like a new shoe and needs to be broken in.

Default Case closed

General 9700 cases are ok but lack brand, quality and aesthetics a 9700 case needs to call out and beckon with radiance...

Went to Best Buy on Saturday to pick up an OEM skin for my 9700; but of course they were out of stock. Being somewhat frustrated since I had already been to 2 RadioShacks with the same result, I started looking around for other options.

Ultimately the only other case available was this Platinum series with a clip holder which I really have no use for. Antsy to get some protection on my new phone, I reluctantly slapped down the $31 for it.

After a couple days of use, I've never been happier. I'm glad they were out of stock on the skins. It's an excellent case, fits well in hand, and protects the screen and keypad from damage (front plate is raised ~millimeter off the phone). Overall content with my purchase.

I just bought this case for my Bold 9700. I disagree that the plastic is cheap. The case itself feels very tough and has an ultra thin rubber coating. Your BB goes into the holster face first, as you see in the original photos. The holster is a strong but flexible plastic (likely ABS), and has the ultra thin rubber along the surface that comes in contact with the front of the case. The clip feels very sturdy and rotates with click increments forward and back. The auto-standby magnet works well. As was stated earlier, I can attest that your BB will not fall out of this holster. It's very snug, as in, it takes some finesse to remove it when you are trying. I didn't have the problem jonraw mentioned (snugness interfering with menu and power buttons and causing screen ripple). The case truly fits like the mfr had access to the phone's blueprint. It will take some getting used to holstering and unholstering the phone, as the fit is indeed snug. Also, you need to rock the phone sideways a little more than normal when typing keys on the edge (such as the "P" or the "alt"). This is because the case is slightly raised to protect the front of the phone. I like the way the bottom slides off so you can remove the BB without breaking those little pins on clam-shell style cases -- nice when you need to do a batter pull (yes, I know about Quick Pull, which doesn't do much good if your handheld freezes up).

I have to agree with all of the positive reviews that everyone has given to this case. I find it to be outstanding. I have used and liked the Seidio cases on many of my other phone and I think that this Platinum is at least equal to them. I have a bad habit of dropping my phone and so far this case has protected it very well. I got mine for like $10 off the price at BestBuy cause it was an open box item. It looked brand new to me. My only other addition to this phone will be a ZAGG screen protector. I have been using ZAGG screen protectors since my first BB and there is nothing on the market that beats them!!!!

I liked the idea of this case, but have a major problem. The second time I removed my phone from the holster, the bottom of the case stayed in the holster. Maybe it is nice it does not have little tabs to break off, but it would also be nice not to lose major pieces of it because they are not secured. Back it went. . .

I got mine for my 9650 from my job; Best Buy [thanks for shopping with us btw.], and I love it. Its does exactly what I need. The plastic is far from cheap. Its pretty much strangles your phone. It took 2 of us to get it off of a customers phone one time. Thats what a good case needs. Ive dropped my bb like 5 times with it on so far and i dont need to worry because its covered. I love it.
